I noticed that summer time for England and US has just ended and might not be noticing the time difference.
I have decided to start the meeting an hour late, which will be at TZ Thursday, November 7, 2019 2:00 PM.

I apologize for the confusion.

Hi group, I have also bugfixed the other two lanelet maps. I was able to do (lanelet) path planning on the multi-storey car parks (Guilford and NCP). Visit this website to download.

AWF has set new meeting schedules for all WGs and set next Map WG meeting to December 12th to the event calendar. However, I would like to hold meeting this week as well as we have decided in the previous meeting. Therefore, next meeting time will be TZ Thursday, December 5, 2019 2:00 PM

Agenda will be:

  • Announcement on Map Working Group meeting schedule
  • Follow up on updates on parkopedia’s map
  • Autoware.Auto map library (I strongly recommend read this thread)

Sorry won’t be able to attend tomorrow.
will check the recording and give feedback next week.

I also will not be able to make this meeting due to the 2am time for my location.
If the lanelet2 vs custom library discussion is brought up again, I think I have shared most of my views on the other thread and in the previous meeting, but I’ll summarize here.

  1. Lanelet2 does have issues in terms of the API implementation being complicated and hard to track down. But it meets functional requirements so far.
  2. Multiple teams have invested time into using it and building tooling to support Lanelet2. So we need to be sure it is the right decision to switch.
  3. If AWF commits to switching a migration strategy is needed, including a development timeline, map converters, considerations for separation from existing Autoware.ai tooling.

Since only three people from TierIV has attended to the meeting, I have decided to skip today’s meeting.

If this time does not work for everyone, I propose to switch back to original meeting time (UTC 2:00 pm) from the next meeting, which I believe have been working fine so far. Does anyone have preference?

I don’t mind continuing to rotate meeting times, but maybe we should drop this particular time from the schedule.

Apologies Mitsudome-san, I’ve been working on urgent items and couldn’t make it.

It’s not as simple as just dropping one slot. You need to remember that there are people from East Asia, South Asia, Europe and both coasts of America interested in participating. Each meeting, someone is going to have a sucky time, so the goal should be to make sure the suckiness is both shared fairly and minimised.

You also need to start doing as much discussion as possible on Discourse and GitLab, which means you and other members who do pay attention to Discourse and GitLab need to encourage, at every opportunity, those who do not pay attention to Discourse and GitLab to do so. The amount of discussion has been improving recently but it’s still not great (the maps WG is doing the best here, too). Following and contributing to Discourse and GitLab discussion should be a daily habit for those involved in the working group’s work. The WG meetings should mainly be a chance to clear up any issues that need to be discussed by voice. Not being able to attend a particular working group meeting should only be a problem if you are particularly close to an issue to be discussed, in which case the WG leaders have a responsibility to defer that item to the next meeting or set up an extra meeting to discuss it.
