Integration of 6-axis manipulator and 2-axis positioner (external axes)

In this case I suggested to post here on ROS Discourse, as in a private email, it appeared that the topic that @tdl-ua is seeking support on is more a discussion topic (as in: is it even possible, what are the potential (dis)advantages of the different approaches) than a Q&A which actually has a single “best” answer.

In general though @ThiloZimmermann I agree with you.
