MARA, the modular cobot powered by ROS 2.0

Dear ROS community,

After years of work, our team at Acutronic Robotics is thrilled to announce that our newly developed modular collaborative robot, MARA, powered by ROS 2.0 is finally available for pre-order. MARA stands for Modular Articulated Robotic Arm and has been built in collaboration with other manufacturers and out of individual modules that natively run ROS 2.0. The modular robot arm can be physically extended in a seamless manner and delivers industrial-grade features that we’ve been discussing for quite a while in threads like Latency and throughput in ROS2.

We’ll be announcing more related modularity products in the short-term. All powered by ROS 2.0. Exciting times!

You can find more information about the robot at https://acutronicrobotics.com/products/mara/. The robot will be displayed within the following days at ROS-I Conference in Stuttgart so if you’re around, stop by and say hi!

In case you’re interested on technical details, there’s a lively discussion happening at https://www.reddit.com/r/robotics/comments/a562a6/mara_the_modular_cobot_with_native_ros_20_modules/ where our team will be answering questions.

We’re shocked and excited with the first commercial reactions received. We were originally planning to manufacture a small batch of 20-50 units but it seems we’ll need to plan for more. If anyone in the community is interested I’d recommend pre-ordering now to ensure we can fulfill the request by March 2019.

Hi @awesomebytes,

I just updated the documentation few minutes ago. Feel free to raise any issue in case of failure.

It’s also possible to move MARA with MoveIT! using bridges. You can find the details here.

Cheers
