Pre-MoveIt Day training for beginners

On Tuesday the 19th, The Construct, in collaboration with Picknik, is going to offer a free live class about how to use MoveIt for beginners

The goal of this webinar is to prepare you for the activities of the MoveIt Day, so you will be ready to participate in the activities around the world without feeling lost.

During the webinar you will:

  1. Create the MoveIt config package for a given arm robot
  2. Learn what is the move_group node
  3. Learn what is the MoveIt! planning scene
  4. Learn about MoveIt! kinematics handling
  5. Learn about MoveIt! collision checking
  6. Connect the MoveIt package to the (simulated) robot (same procedure than for a real robot)
  7. Do motion planning programmatically

All the learning will be done online, with all the attendants having free access to the Robot Ignite Academy, so you will practice with the teacher at the same time. You don’t need to install anything in your computer because the whole environment is web-based. Any type of computer will work for the class.

You will practice with two different robots:

  1. UR5 with Shadow hand
  2. Fetch robot

Training will start at 19:30 CET and will last for 1.5 hours. Get to the training through this Youtube event.

Teacher will be Alberto Ezquerro, ROS expert, creator of many ROS courses and 4 books about how to learn ROS 1 and 2.
