Preparing for Noetic Sync 2025-04-08

Hello Noetic maintainers!

Starting now, I will be holding new Noetic ros/rosdistro release PRs with a plan to sync ROS Noetic packages to the main apt repo on 2025-04-03. Please comment here if there are any issues I should know about before performing the sync.

There are currently 3 packages waiting to sync and 0 regressions.

Hmm, qoi_image_transport: 1.0.4-1 in 'noetic/distribution.yaml' [bloom] by peci1 · Pull Request #44858 · ros/rosdistro · GitHub got merged before the sync hold, but it isn’t listed on the list of packages to sync. Actually, it still wasn’t picked up by the buildfarm after 11 hours…

Thanks for reporting this @peci1 ! The infrastructure team found, and is fixing a configuration issue on the ROS 1 buildfarm.

I’m going to extend the freeze so that:

  • New packages get a chance to build
  • New packages get time in the testing apt repo before going to main

The new sync date is: Tuesday, April 8th.
