Postdoc in 3D Lidar External Environment Perception, Agri-robotics, University of Lincoln UK

The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary team within the Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (LIAT). The successful candidate will be employed as part of a Ceres-funded project, which will develop novel LIDAR based control systems to optimise large scale farm machinery. The successful applicant will join a project team that brings together sector-leading expertise in agri-robotics and autonomous systems, industrial control system design and collaboration with an industry partner to provide a rapid and agreed route to market for the new technology developed through this project.

As part of the project, you will research new methods of precision agriculture, based upon LiDAR, IMU, GPS sensing and processing technologies. You will work with us to extend and improve upon existing commercial systems, responding to the innovation needs of the agri-tech sector.

You will work with Dr Charles Fox at the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (https://lcas.lincoln.ac.uk/) whose previous work includes the IBEX robotics project (www.ibexautomation.co.uk) and Prof Simon Pearson, who heads the Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/home/liat/).

This post will be fixed term until 30th April 2021 with excellent opportunities for ongoing career development and progression. The successful candidate will contribute to the University’s ambition to achieve international recognition as a research-intensive institution, spearheading the development of next generation innovation for agri-food production.
