Preparing for Jazzy sync 2024-10-18

We’re planning a Jazzy Jalisco sync next Friday 2024-10-17T16:00:00Z. There are currently 256 packages ready to sync and no regressions .

If you find a regression when testing, please report it upstream and leave a comment here so we can track it leading up to the sync.

Starting today 2024-10-15T16:00:00Z we’ll hold all rosdistro PRs unless they fix reported regressions.

Hi, please make sure that rcl_logging #123 makes it into the next Jazzy sync. It appears to have been missed in the 2024-10-18 sync.

Regular syncs do not typically include updates to the core packages. The next patch sync will contain it.

Then consider this a request that either (1) the next Jazzy sync be a patch sync as well or (2) that a simple fix to a significant bug in a core package (it breaks all of the bazel ROS 2 tooling) be an exception to “typically”.

Three months (approximately the interval between prior patch syncs) is a very long time to wait for a two line fix to land in the binary distribution.
