Preparing for Rolling Sync 2021-06-08

Rolling has not been synced since the Galactic release and is therefore overdue.

There are currently a number of significant regressions in Rolling which are blocking the sync

  • An issue in RHEL 8.4 is creating regressions for that platform. There is a workaround being drafted which will probably be adopted but will require a deep rebuild of affected packages on RHEL8.
  • There are some pending releases of rmw-layer packages which will require a similarly deep rebuild.

I’ll endeavor to get these resolved so that we have the weekend to rebuild and can perform the sync early next week.

Rolling is looking good right now. We’ll from Rolling tomorrow morning unless there are reports in the meantime that severe regressions are present. In the meantime other Rolling releases are held for this sync.
