I have been wondering the same thing. The Mars pathfinder suffered from system resets due to priority inversion, yet it seems that work on ROS 2 mutexes with priority inheritance has stalled… 
That being said, it seems that Space ROS does have hardening as its target.
I hope it succeeds, it would be valuable to have a real-time capable ROS distribution.
