Finding the right router to connect your robot

Hi all,

Alex here from Freedom Robotics. I recently posted a link to a blog that I wrote, “8 Common Mistakes When Connecting Your Robot With a Cellular Modem.”

That article didn’t dive into specific router recommendations based on use case, budget, and reliability requirements. So I put together another blog that zeros in on a few specific routers and classes of routers to help find the best solution for your application.

I encourage you to read the entire article, but in general, there are four key things to consider before making a router purchase:

  • Your environment. Know which carriers have superior coverage in your operation environment of choice.
  • Your data requirements. Know how much data and what connection speeds you require.
  • Your carrier. Know your carrier’s data offerings and select a plan that fits your business model.
  • Your speed and reliability requirements. Know the speed and reliability requirements of your application before selecting a connectivity solution.

You can find the full article here. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Have you used any of these solutions? Was the post useful? Are there other routers you have used that you liked? Let me know!

Talk soon,

Alex
