Foxglove Studio's New 3D Panel

The latest iteration of Foxglove Studio’s most popular panel is now available.

Rewriting the panel using three.js has unlocked some exciting new features:

  • Support for non-ROS visualization primitives like cubes, spheres, and lines

  • Better rendering for transparent objects

  • More renderable types – including multiple grids and URDF models, more mesh types, and camera images projected into 3D space.

  • Streamlined user experience when navigating a visually dense 3D scene

We also recorded a podcast episode talking through the behind-the-scenes motivations and decisions that went into this new 3D panel:

As we continue iterating on this new panel, we’re excited to hear your thoughts! You can share your feedback with us here, in our community Slack, on Twitter, or on GitHub.
