We are looking for a passionate and brilliant Research Fellow in Aerial Perception and Robotics to contribute to building Leonardo’s next generation rotorcrafts. The candidate will be part of the Future Rotorcraft Technologies Leonardo Lab in Cascina Costa, Varese, Italy, in the Milan area.
She/He will help the rest of the team to create advanced perception systems to help rotorcrafts fly autonomously in complex scenarios.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years of relevant experience in academia or industry
- Proven expertise in configuration, calibration and signal processing of at least one sensor among LiDAR, IR cameras, RGB cameras, RADAR
- Proven expertise in sensor fusion
- Proven experience in C++ software design and development
- Familiarity with common software engineering practices (containers, software versioning)
- Ability to work in team and autonomously
Bonus Additional Skills
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proven expertise in GNSS-denied relative and absolute state estimation/localization
- Experience with robotics software and hardware architectures
- Experience with aeronautics software and hardware architectures
- Expertise with the ROS2 ecosystem
- Expertise with Python programming
- Expertise in safety critical software development
- Proven experience in integrating electronics hardware
- Experience with real time programming
