Name: SWORD - SouthWest Ontario ROS Developers Preferred Language: English Blurb: Canada has long been an integral part of the ROS ecosystem, and this user group is specifically for ROS developers in and around Ontario. Don’t pass up this opportunity to learn everything about ROS from A to Zed!
Since the blurb says “in and around Ontario” and following our existing practice, I used the name “ROS Ontario User Group” for it. Similarly, the logo shouldn’t represent all of Canada if the user group is not, so I suggested an alternative logo that has the maple leaf in the bottom right (roughly where Ontario is in Canada). I don’t know that much about what symbolises Ontario, though, so I’m happy to replace it with a better symbol if someone lets me know what that is.
You might want to consider potential confusion between SWORD (SouthWest Ontario ROS Developers) and SWRI (Southwest Research Institute)'s SWORD tooling
As an active ROS experimenter located in Markham, great to see this, and will look forward to following the group’s activities. I run a Turtlebot & Turtlebot3 upgraded to Jazzy.
Thanks @nathanbrooks and @Katherine_Scott for noting SWORD (SwRI tool) as yeah, we probably should have been here at Discourse driving some awareness but we would be happy to virtually speak on SWORD at a SWORD event to really drive home the point.
