Hi Chris,

I am trying to get a grasp on using ROS but not sure which program I should download for Windows. Could you provide that information to me? …

What were the critical problems this release is fixing? https://github.com/ros/ros_comm/pull/1894 and https://github.com/ros/ros_comm/pull/1915? Or something else?

Hi Chris,

you can start with https://index.ros.org/doc/ros2/Installation/Dashing/Windows-Install-Binary/ and https://index.ros.org/doc/ros2/Tutorials/#tutorials . The tutorials are written with Linux in mind, but most of them require little to no changes to also work on windows once you get ROS installed and properly set up.

Aside from that, this isn’t the correct thread to ask for user support. Try posting a new thread to https://discourse.ros.org/c/general/8 if you have some general questions, or visit answers.ros.org if you have a question in particular.

Have fun!

Good question. The issues were linked to in the preparing post, but I should have copied them over here.

One was an issue with dynamic_reconfigure, where there were problems building packages in an overlay. The other problem was with ros_comm, where rosout stopped working from rospy. As far as we know, both issues have been fixed with this update, but any additional tests/reporting is of course welcome.
