Preparing for Rolling sync 2021-10-29

Preparing my ROS World talk on Rolling took away a lot of the time I would have spent preparing the Rolling syncs. There are a few regressions that I want to make sure are ticketed upstream before we sync without them and I’m in the process of opening or refreshing issues for those today. But I am planning to run a sync, regressions or not. this 2021-10-29T07:00:00Z.

I’m also drafting the announcement detailing how Rolling will transition from Ubuntu 20.04 to early builds of Ubuntu 22.04 so consider this a pre-announcement I guess.

I missed the sync window on Friday and there are now critical regressions on Rolling. We will begin holding all releases which do not address existing issues in Rolling and perform the sync tomorrow or Wednesday once the build farm has settled.

We found one more regression, and will be merging qt_gui_core: 2.1.0-1 in 'rolling/distribution.yaml' [bloom] by clalancette · Pull Request #31106 · ros/rosdistro · GitHub to fix it.

The sync is out.
