Hi all,

Once more time, ROS 2 Embedded Working Group meeting is here!

Next week, the 27th of June will be the 28th EWG meeting. Register here!

This time we’ll have two fantastic talks:

Yasushi Shoji, Co-founder and CEO of Space Cubics, as he dives into the world of the Zephyr-modularized version of micro-ROS. This approach eliminates the need for Colcon or Ament, offering a simplified experience. With Zephyr modules like rclc and Micro XRCE-DDS-client at its core, this version empowers Zephyr users with enhanced project visibility and seamless customization using familiar tools like West and Kconfig.

Russell Joyce, a Robotics and Embedded Systems Research Engineer at Microsoft, as he provides a concise overview of Microsoft Research’s Project Silica. Discover how this groundbreaking project leverages the power of ROS and micro-ROS to develop prototype robotics for the next era of data center storage libraries. Delve into the exciting world where robotics, cutting-edge technologies, and data storage converge in this enlightening presentation.

Hello ROS Community!

Here is a heads-up for October: There won’t be an Embedded Working Group meeting this month. Why, you ask? Because we’re gearing up for ROSCon’22, and we can’t wait to meet you there!

And for those of you who can’t make it this time, don’t worry!
We’ll be back with our next EWG meeting in November.
See you then!

Hi everyone,

Exciting news! Our 30th EWG meeting is just around the corner, scheduled for 2023-11-28T16:00:00Z. In our upcoming session, we will delve into the fascinating topics of Safe DDS & AMD KR260 Starter Kit.

Register for the 30th EWG Meeting

Pablo Garrido from eProsima will present a demo highlighting the utilization of Safe DDS across all three cores of the AMD KR260 platform – Cortex A53, Cortex R5, and MicroBlaze FPGA-softcore.

Safe DDS is a middleware communications implementation following the ISO 26262 certification standard and providing access to the DDS world. The development platform for Kria K26 is built for robotics and industrial applications, complete with high-performance interfaces and native ROS 2 support for ease of development by roboticists and software developers.

Take advantage of this opportunity to explore Safe DDS running in the AMD KR260 Starter Kit.

Stay tuned, and don´t miss the next meeting!

Our 34th EWG meeting is just around the corner, scheduled for Tuesday, 2024-05-28T15:00:00Z.
Our upcoming session will delve into device communication within complex systems such as micro-ROS and CAN FD as a transport layer.

Register for the 34th EWG Meeting

Jose Mateus Raitz, Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Research Assistant at Kansas State University, will explore an innovative approach to device communication within complex systems, specifically focusing on using microROS with CAN FD as a transport layer. This method will be compared to high-level CAN protocols such as J1939 and CANOpen. As a proof of concept, he will demonstrate how this approach has been successfully implemented in the sprayer subsystem of my autonomous agricultural robot.
