The robotics team at Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, will be running a hands-on ROS deployment workshop. This is Part 1 of a series of training programmes dedicated to the deployment and management of robotics software in Ubuntu. The series aims to help developers learn new skills and increase their knowledge about DevOps in Ubuntu.
You can find more information about the workshop here. In a nutshell, this will be a hands-on session guided by one of Canonical’s robotics engineers. Part 1 will show you the process of packaging a ROS application as a snap. We will cover how to set up the tools and the basics of snap creation for ROS and ROS 2 applications through different examples. By introducing the main snap concepts, we will see how to confine your robotics application and make it installable on dozens of Linux distributions.
Part 1 takes one hour and 45 minutes. We will run both on-site and virtual sessions.

Four virtual sessions will be scheduled, from October 4 to 13.

The on-site workshop will be part of the annual Ubuntu Summit. This is a 3 days event, in Prague, Czech Republic, from November 7 - 9. The Ubuntu Summit will include a series of talks, workshops, panels and Q&A. For more information visit the Ubuntu Summit webpage.
