The ROS PMC meeting for this week was on Tuesday. The notes from the meeting are available at ROS PMC weekly meeting agenda
This week we discussed:
- Rosdep review questions
- What to do in the case that an “alternative platform” key appears as automated feedback in rosdistro? add 'python3-wheel' by christianrauch · Pull Request #44501 · ros/rosdistro · GitHub
- Conclusion: When possible, please ask contributors to add rules for other operating systems. We aren’t directly supporting these (like opensuse), but if there is a rule that matches, then it’s low cost to get it in at the time of the original rosdep PR
- Does adding a package break API/ABI and justify a major version bump? (rmw: 7.7.0-1 in 'rolling/distribution.yaml' [bloom] by ahcorde · Pull Request #44482 · ros/rosdistro · GitHub)
- Conclusion: In this case, we are okay, as adding the package doesn’t incur changes. In downstream packages (rmw implementations), we likely want to bump majors to reflect the new dependency.
