Announcing Release 2.1.0 of the VRX Simulation Environment
We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.1.0 of the VRX simulation platform! The VRX platform is a virtual environment built in Gazebo, designed for accelerating development of unmanned surface vehicles. It also serves as the virtual “venue” for the VRX Competition, a virtual competition closely coordinated with the RobotX Challenge.
Release 2.1.0 adds core functionality and practice worlds for all eight tasks featured in the upcoming VRX 2023 Competition, to be held in Fall of 2023. The full list of tasks is as follows (new tasks are highlighted in bold):
Basic Tasks:
- Stationkeeping
- Wayfinding
- Perception
- Acoustic perception
Integrated Tasks:
- Wildlife Encounter
- Follow the Path
- Acoustic Tracking
- Scan, Dock and Deliver
