There is a lot of buzz around ChatGPT and other GPT-based tools, especially about using them in software development. Has anyone tried to use these tools in robotics (w/wo ROS)? Is there some activity that it actually helps with? Like testing or some other QA activity?
I don’t work with ROS atm, so I won’t be able to test it myself. But I have heard some anecdotes that it’s ok for simple stuff, not for complicated problems.
Yeah, I’ve been using ChatGPT to draft up most code for me as of late.
If “robotics” also includes hardware:
(I’m not sure how accurate “first” is here. As always, what researchers say/do and what media outlets make of it are potentially two different things)

Yesterday was world moveit day and one of the teams built an integration with MoveIt and ChatGPT you can find here: WMD23_Quicksand · GitHub
Here is a video of their submission: https://photos.app.goo.gl/FFw3XYKXZkkXefPV9
I don’t know if they are here but their names are: Adam Seiwert, Nathan Harmon, Ilyas Salhi
