New Online Robotics Community

Hi everyone, as some of you will know I have a YouTube channel and blog where I post robotics tutorials, and currently the bulk of the content is ROS-focused (though I’d like to vary it more in the future).

As part of that, I have just launched a Discourse forum and Discord server to go along with it. I’d love it if you wanted to come and be a part of our new community!

The idea is for it not to be a place for people to ask their ROS questions (for which we have ROS answers), their CS/electrical questions (for which there are other forums), or to discuss ROS generally (for which there is this Discourse) but rather a place to chat about robotics projects people are working on (ROS or otherwise), get general advice, and also to discuss/question the specific content of my tutorials.

In the interest of keeping information open and searchable, anyone can sign up to the forum to read and reply to topics, but creation of new topics is presently limited to my Patreon patrons - mostly to prevent a flood of topics from people who aren’t seriously interested in contributing to the community. (The lowest tier is $2/mon which I hope is accessible for many).

If you’re reading this, then you’re evidently already happy to be a constructive community member, and so I’d like to offer the chance to join the Articulated Robotics Community. Just sign up for the free account with the link above, send me a DM through the ROS discourse within the next week, and I’ll elevate your privileges.

(Of course, if you’d like to support me on Patreon and join the Discord server too then you are most welcome!)

Thanks everyone!
(P.S. I’m currently working on tutorials for using ros2_control - stay tuned for that!)
