Service Required for ROS Project

I am a civil engineer currently pursuing a PhD and am looking for an experienced ROS expert to assist with a long-term project involving ROS2 and autonomous robotics.

Project Overview:

I am working on a project where I need to implement a robot (such as Turtlebot3) to perform 3D laser scanning to generate point clouds. These point clouds will be used to measure construction progress on a site.

Current Progress:

  • I am using RTAB-MAP and Turtlebot3 to generate point clouds.
  • The next step is to employ autonomous exploration strategies (e.g., frontier-based) to enable the robot to fully scan a construction site and produce comprehensive point clouds.

Assistance Required:

I am seeking assistance with the following:

  1. Implementing and fine-tuning autonomous exploration strategies.
  2. Providing ongoing support as the project progresses.

Additional Information:

  • Flexibility: I am open to using any version of ROS, alternative robots, or other adjustments necessary to achieve the project’s objectives. My primary goal is to successfully complete the project, so I am flexible with the tools and approaches used.

Interested Candidates:

If you are interested in this opportunity, please provide the following details:

  1. Your availability and the fees you would require.
  2. Your preferred method of proceeding and any information you may need from me.
  3. Your willingness to have an initial Zoom meeting to discuss the project in more detail.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. I look forward to your response and hope we can collaborate on this exciting project.

I think you’re looking for Boston Dynamics Spot robot. It has most of the features you want (plus it can climb over obstacles, which would definitely stop a Turtlebot, and which are almost surely to be found on construction sites). The only thing it’s missing is exploration. But if you give it a rough path to follow, it can do the rest, even in changing environment (if you instrument the walls with Apriltags).

Agree with @peci1 , we can discuss about your needs on a Zoom meeting.

If it is still avilable. I will love to have the first Zoom meeting.
