Due to upstream ROS 2 limitations, ROS 2 ( .db3
) files do not contain the message definitions needed to analyze your data with 3rd party tools (like Foxglove Studio or Foxglove Data Platform).
Converting your ROS 2 data into MCAP files, however, makes your data completely self-contained, smaller, and more performant when loading for visualization.
