We need participants for a Survey on Field-based Testing of ROS applications!

Have you ever done any kind of test in the field or used field data on ROS applications? How about runtime verification? Do you have an idea of how techniques for testing robots in the field might be improved? We want to hear from you!

We are a group of researchers from Chalmers | University of Gothenburg (Sweden), Gran Sasso Science Institute (Italy), University of Brasília (Brazil), and Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), studying runtime verification and field testing of ROS-based applications. We synthesized 20 guidelines that should help developers and quality assurance (QA) teams to gather confidence in ROS systems. Now, we aim to get first-hand insights and opinions from experts to greatly help the robotics software engineering community.

We invite you to participate in a 15-30min online survey. Participating will allow you to reflect on your own practices, learn about others’ practices, describe challenges, and suggest improvements to the robotics software engineering research community.

We split the survey into two parts, developers and quality assurance (QA) teams, to give you more flexibility in answering. Please consider answering both. Survey:

Thanks!

I hope many community members will participate in the survey. Since there is a long way to achieve an industry-standard testing and verification methodology for robotics, these efforts and community participation are critically important to set up the groundwork.

Thank you for the effort and the nice references collected for the guidelines.

Thanks for the support! We are keen in contributing to the community by understanding the state-of-practice. For this reason, the engagement from the community is really important. We, of course, plan to organize what we learn with the survey and share with the community in terms of guidelines and exemplar repositories.
