ROS News for the week of July 31st, 2023
It can’t all be good news. The ROS community lost one of our best engineers last week. If you have used a TurtleBot 4 or a Luxonis depth sensor you have Brandon Giles to thank for that innovation. Last week Brandon, after what seemed to be a recovery, suddenly succumb to complications from long-Covid. He is survived by his wife and young children.
I had the pleasure of working with Brandon on the TurtleBot 4 and the OpenCV OAK-D release. He was honestly one of the most talented and hard working individuals I have ever encountered in my career. Funeral and memorial information will be posted by the family in due time. If you are so inclined there is an impromptu memorial going on here.
